Clathration effects on the interpenetration in the 2D (4,4) coordination polymer {[Fe(4,4 ′ -bipy)(dca) 2 ] · bt}

2004

Abstract A novel 2D polymer, {[Fe(4,4′-bipy)(dca)2] · bt}, (dca=dicyanamide, 4,4′-bipy=4,4′-bipyridine and bt=2,2′-bithiazoline) has been synthesized and characterized by X-ray crystallography. The structure reveals the formation of 2D (4,4) networks and intercalated bt uncoordinated ligands.

NEW SELF-ASSEMBLING POLYASPARTYLHYDRAZIDE COPOLYMER MICELLES FOR ANTICANCER DRUG DELIVERY.

2010

A new amphiphilic copolymer have been synthesized starting from the hydrosoluble polyaspartylhydrazide (PAHy) polymer, by grafting both hydrophilic PEG(2000) chains and hydrophobic palmitic acid (C(16)) moieties on polymer backbone, and the structure of obtained PAHy-PEG(2000)-C(16) copolymer have been characterized by 2D (1)H/(13)C NMR experiments. PAHy-PEG(2000)-C(16) copolymer showed the ability of self-assembling in aqueous media giving a core-shell structure and resulted potentially useful for encapsulating and dissolving hydrophobic drug. The formation of micellar core-shell structure has been investigated by 2D (1)H NMR NOESY experiments. The presence of cross-peaks for protons of C(…

Self-assembling and auto-crosslinkable hyaluronic acid hydrogels with a fibrillar structure

2008

Abstract A hyaluronic acid derivative bearing pendant l -benzoyl-cysteine portions (with a derivatization degree equal to 10 mol.%) was synthesized by linking N,N′-dibenzoyl- l -cystine to the polysaccharide and then reducing its disulfide bridge to thiol groups. The formation of π–π stacking interactions between the benzoyl moieties was studied by fluorescence spectroscopy as a function of polymer concentration and oxidation time. The efficiency of oxidation of thiol groups to disulfide bridges occurring in phosphate buffer pH 7.4, was determined by colorimetric assays. The hydrogel formed by means of oxidative crosslinking has shown the presence of fibrillar aggregates as detected by ligh…

The Role of Self-Assembling Lipid Molecules in Vaccination

2018

Abstract The advent of vaccines represents one of the most significant advances in medical history. The protection provided by vaccines has greatly contributed in reducing the number of cases of infections and most notably to the eradication of small pox. A large number of new technologies and approaches in vaccine development are currently being investigated with the goal of providing the basis for the next generation of prophylactics against an ever-expanding list of emerging and reemerging pathogens. In this chapter, we will focus on the role of lipids and lipid self-assembling vesicles in new and promising vaccination approaches. We will start by describing how lipids can induce activat…

Supramolecular self-assembling in mesostructured materials through charge tuning in the inorganic phase

1998

Supramolecular self-assembling of organic CTA+ micelles and inorganic [VO(H2O)PO4]n^q-2 2D-anions for the isolation of hexagonal mesostructured materials can be reached by charge tuning in the inorganic phase through the adjustment of the vanadium mean oxidation state. Studies on the solution behaviour of self-assembling polymeric systems

1993

Functional groups were attached to styrene-butadiene copolymers with different polymeric architectures and a low molecular weight compound. These polar stickers form binary, chelate-like contacts or extended juntion zones depending on their chemical nature. The solution properties of these amphiphilic species in toluene were studied by static light scattering.

Bile acid-derived mono- and diketals—synthesis, structural characterization and self-assembling properties

2010

Three oxo-derivatives of bile acid methyl esters have been used as starting compounds in the preparation of novel bile acid monoketals with 1,2-benzenediol (catechol) and 2,3-naphthalenediol, as well as mono- and diketals with pentaerythritol. Monoketals of pentaerythritol showed a tendency to form thermoreversible gels in many aromatic solvents and the methyl lithocholate derivative proved to be a supergelator able to form a gel with t-butylbenzene at a concentration as low as 0.5% w/v. Whereas the naphthalenediol ketals formed film-type materials in the studied solvents, the catechol ketals underwent rapid crystallization into X-ray quality single crystals. Single crystal X-ray structures…
